Sweet Peas are an easy to grow flower and are pretty much disease free, but like all plants, they will benefit more from having good treatment.

This long stemmed sweet pea produces many pure white flowers with waved wings and long stems which make for a good cut flower. Brook Hall is a well scented Spencer type that has the RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Kings seeds recommend sowing sweet peas into into a good quality seed sowing compost and water only with tap water as opposed to butt saved water. This is because waterbutts can contain harmful pathogens, resulting in poor germination

When to Sow Brook Hall Sweet Pea Seeds

September to April

Where to Sow

Sow outside direct into the floweing site in April or September, and inside from October onwards.
If sowing outside, sow direct to the flowering site at 2cm (1") deep. Make later sowings in pots, five seeds in each. October and November sowings in a cold frame. January sowings in an unheated glasshouse. March sowings in a cold frame.

What to do Next

Glasshouse raised seedlings should be hardened off during March. Plant out pot grown seedlings in the flowering site 15cm (6") apart in April. Thin direct sown seedlings to 10cm (4") apart. Pick flowers regularly to encourage new growth.


Late June to September

Provide sturdy support for plants. After a good rain a mature plant will be very heavy.
