Looking towards the Autumn.

When gardening, it's always good to have a habit of looking ahead, and although we haven't had Summer yet you should already be looking towards the Autumn.
This weekend you will need to sowing some Autumn and Winter Brassicas. It's best to sow seed of Savoy Cabbages, Calabrese, Sprouting Broccoli and Autumn and Winter Cauliflower's. It's good to sow these into pots under glass and then prick them out into cell tray's. This helps later when planting out, as the plants do not suffer a check and will keep on growing.
Traditionally these plants are usually sown direct outside in a seedbed and transplanted into their final positions. These plants are usually bare root and sometimes suffer if the weather is very warm.
This method gives you better control as well as better quality plants to plant out with no signs of a check to their growth. It is also believed that cell tray grown plants have more chance of fighting Club root.
