Artichoke Green Globe - July delivery Plug plants (3 x 9cm pots).

An Attractive thistle-like plant. Good size dark green heads, crowns benefit from protection over the winter.

Plant artichoke plants 1 metre apart. Add plenty of well-rotted manure or organic matter to the planting site and add horticultural grit to clay soil to improve the drainage. Rake in some fertiliser before planting. These plants will be ready to harvest from June to September the following year. After the main harvest, secondary heads will appear which can also be cropped. Crowns benefit from protection with straw during the winter months.
