When to Sow Thunbergia Alata Seeds

February to April

Where to Sow

Sow the seed under cover into pots or trays of moist seed compost and cover with compost or vermiculite to their own depth. Place in a propagator or warm place, and keep at a temperature of between 20-25°C (68-77°F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination which usually takes 14-21 days.

What to do Next

When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost has passed, 30cm (12") apart. for best results, provide a light, well-drained soil in full sun.

Flowers

July onwards

Handy Tip

Can also be grown in 25-30cm (10-12") containers in the greenhouse or conservatory.
