Where to Sow

Under cover sow seeds onto the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Lightly cover seed with a sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or warm place, at a temperature of 18-21°C (65-70°F) until after germination which usually takes 7-21 days.

What to do Next

When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise young plants to outdoor conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost has passed, 23-30cm (9-12") apart, or transplant into containers.
