Mustard Greens Southern Giant

Description

Southern Giant has mild flavoured, dark green, fringed leaves, making it ideal for both spring or autumn cropping from young leaves or full plant. It produces very tasty greens with mild mustard flavour for use raw in salad or lightly cooked.

The interest in what we have classed liberally as "Oriental Vegetables" increases every year. They can be used raw in salads, or lightly cooked for use in stir frys and numerous Chinese style meals. We hope you will be tempted to give something different a try.

When to Sow Southern Giant Mustard Green Seeds

All year round

Where to Sow

Sow thinly in a prepared seed bed 0.5cm (1/4in) deep in rows 25-30cm (10-12in) apart. Keep soil moist. Sow seed in sucession every 2-3 weeks for a continuous supply of fresh young leaves.

What to do next

Keep soil moist and cut leaves from each plant leaving some leaves on each so they re-grow. You will often get 3-4 cuttings per plant.
