As good as any hybrid variety at a fraction of the price but equal in quality. Round smooth red roots with an intense inner colour and no white rings. Bona beetroot has a very sweet flavour, due to it's high sugar content. Perfect as a baby or mature beets in a salad, or great when pickled.

When to Sow Bona Beetroot Seeds

March to July. Germinates around 24 days.

Where to Sow

Sow thinly in shallow drills 1.5cm (1/2") deep with 30cm (12") between rows.

What to do next

Thin the seedlings gradually as they grow to an eventual spacing of 10cm (4"). Do not transplant. Only needs watering when there is a drought. Lift carefully and leave about 5cm (2") of stalk to prevent bleeding when cooking.

The roots hold for a good period before going woody. Ideal pulled and stored for winter use.
