One of our most attractive wild flowers with fragrant creamy white plumes. Used to flavour many drinks. Useful dye plant yielding a black from roots and yellow from tops. Valuable medicinal plant. Habitat: moist grassland and stream sides. Height 1 metre.

Where to Sow Meadowsweet Seeds

Outside in spring in good rich soil covering the seed lightly.Inside in seed tray of peat compost in spring or late summer and lightly cover with soil.  Price out when large enough and grow on until planted out.

Where to Grow

In rich alkaline soil, in a moist situation, if possible. Site in sun or half shade.
