Marsh Mallow (Althaea officinalis) P

Description

Marsh Mallow is a handsome plant with grey-green velvety leaves and delicate pink flowers. Flowers late summer. Once used to flavour sweets. Very soothing properties for all inflamed membranes and bee stings and useful to treat coughs and bronchitis. Requires a moist situation, so will often be found near water such as streams, tidal rivers and seas or growing wild in salt marshes.

When to Sow Marsh Mallow Seeds

Sow Althaea Officinalis outside - In spring or later summer in a well prepared seed bed. Cover lightly with soil. Please note that the seeds are known to be quite erratic.

Where to Grow
In any good garden soil in full sun.  Grows well in wet situations.  In a dry soil, it will need a lot of mosture retaining compost worked in.
