Indigo (Indigofera ssp Tinctoria)

Description

Indigo Herb Seeds

An ancient dyeplant producing a clear and fast blue dye. A long growing season required so start early in spring under cover.

Seeds are best soaked for 24 hours in hand hot water. Once ready to sow the seed should swell, if this is the case sow immediately. If not soak them again, changing the water daily until swelling occurs.

They should be sown 5mm deep into moist, well-drained seed compost. The ideal temperature being 16-21°C. Germination can take 30-90 days and even under ideal conditions germination can be erratic.

Where to Sow

In pots or trays in greenhouse at 16-21° C.

When to Transplant

When seedlings are large enough to handle prick off into trays and grow on.  Gradually harden off and plant out after the danger of frosts has passed.
