When to Sow Aristotle Basil Seeds

All year round

Sow Inside

In small trays of compost 0.5cm (1/4") deeo, and lightly cover the seeds with a sprinkling of compost and place at a temperature of 15-20°C. Prick out seedlings individually to 7cm (3") pots one large enough to handle. Grow on in cooler conditions, then gradually harden off plants in a cold frame before planting out after all risk of frost has passed. Transplant to final positions 30cm (12") apart or into larger containers, or grow a few in pots on a light windowsill all year round, harvesting as required.

Sow Outside

In April and May into shallow seed drills. Direct sown seedlings can be thinned to 15-30cm (6-12") apart and harvested as required.

Harvest

Pick leaves anytime whilst dry and the sun is not too strong.

Height

25cm (10")

Handy Tip

Water little and often, nip out the tips and remove any flower buds that appear. This will help the plant grow strong and leafy.
