SPECIAL OFFER - Seville Marmalade Orange Fruit Tree - 5lts (20cm pot)

Description

The start of February hales the ripening of the Seville Marmalade Orange. Also known as the Bigardier Orange, it is most correctly referred to as Citrus x aurantium.
It is one of the easiest citrus' to grow in the UK and will happily withstand all but regular below-freezing temperatures. It has great shaped fruit with lovely glossy leaves. Flowering, fruiting, and forming buds, it is always of interest in the garden or unheated conservatory. The orange-blossom scent from the flowers is very special. Citrus x aurantium produces large and regular shaped fruits with a rather coarse skin, which of course in marmalade terms is vital to the perfect pot of marmalade. The flesh of the fruits yield plenty of juice. The all-important pith and seeds are however bitter and when combined with the shredded skin gives the delicious bitter-sweet flavour to the marmalade. The fruits will often ripen unevenly on the tree, but they can be picked individually when ripe and cut and prepared for “marmalade day” and then stored in the freezer until all the fruits are picked and marmalade making can begin. There is a wealth of difference between bought fruits and those grown in your own garden and you will not regret the small amount of effort it takes in growing your own.
