When to Sow Chatsworth Sweet Pea Seeds

September to April

Where to Sow

We recommend that October is the best month for sowing sweet peas.
Sow sweet pea seeds in a 7.5cm deep pot, with 5 seeds in each. October, November and March sowings should be kept in a cold frame. January sowings in a heated glasshouse. April and September sowings can be made direct to flowering site at 2cm deep.

What to do Next

In March, harden off seedlings that have been raised in a glasshouse. In April, you can plant out pot grown seedlings in the flowering site at 15cm (6") apart. Thin direct sown seedlings to 10cm (4") apart. Pick the flowers regularly to encourage new growth.

Handy Tip

Provide sturdy support for plants. After a good rain a mature plant will be heavy.
