Polyanthus Pacific Giants

Description

Pacific Giant Polyanthus Seeds

One of our most favourite plants for early garden cover, Pacific Giants is carefully selected from prime plants which enables this strain to produce extra large flowers on strong stems in bold solid colours, that will contrast well against green foliage. Because of this, this makes for a superb pot plant and can reach and approximate height of 25-30cm. They prefer moist and shady conditions.
Perfect for pollinators, and makes a great cut flower too!
Hardy perennial

When to Sow Pacific Giant Polyanthus Seeds

June and July

What to do Next

Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed seed compost in pots or trays. Keep at a temperature of between 15-20°C (59-68°F). Do not exclude light and keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged. Germination will usually take 14-30 days. As soon as you see the seed start to germinate, lightly cover the seeds with vermiculite.

What to do Next

When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions in a cold frame or sheltered part of the garden for a few weeks before planting out in the autumn, in borders spaced 15cm (6") apart or plant into containers for autumn/spring colour.

Flowers

March to May the following year.

Handy Tip

Ideal for planting in damp, shady, sheltered spots as well as sunny borders.
