When to Sow Cambridge Blue Lobelia Seeds

January to March

Where to Sow

Sow Lobelia seeds on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Do not cover the seed. Place in a propagator or a warm place and keep at a temperature of between 20-25°C (68-77°F). After sowing do not exclude light as this helps germination which usually takes 10-21 days.

What to do Next

When the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler condition for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost has passed, 23-30cm (9-12") apart or plant into baskets and containers filled with a good quality potting compost.

Maturity

May onwards

Height

10cm (4")

Handy Tip

A popular edging plant, often alternated with the white of Alyssum and the red of Salvia.
