WHEN TO SOW
March to July
WHERE TO SOW
Sow thinly in shallow drills 1.5cm (1/2") deep with 30cm (12") between rows.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Thin the seedlings gradually as they grow to an eventual spacing of 10cm (4"). Do not transplant. Only needs watering when there is a drought. Lift carefully and leave about 5cm (2") of stalk to prevent bleeding when cooking.
June to October
Beetroot is rich in beta carotene and folic acid.
The roots hold for a good period before going woody . Ideal pulled and stored for winter use .
