Great Expectations are a special blend of lilac and lavender shades which are full of fragrance and have good stems for cutting.

Kings seeds recommend sowing seeds into a good quality seed sowing compost and water only with tap water. Do not use butt water as this can contain harmful pathogens, resulting in poor germination

When to Sow Great Expectations Sweet Pea Seeds

September to April.

Where to Sow

September and April sowings can be sown direct in flowering site at 2cm deep. If sowing after September, seeds can be sown into pots with 5 five seeds per pot. Sow October and November in cold frame, Sow in January in an unheated glasshouse, March in cold frame.

What to do Next

Glasshouse raised seedlings should be hardened off during March. Plant out pot grown seedlings to the flowering site at 15cm apart in April. Thin direct sown seedlings to 10cm apart. Pick sweet pea flowers regularly to encourage new growth.

Maturity

Late June to September.

Handy Tip

When the plants are about 15cm tall, pinch out the growing tip to encourage secondary growth.
