When to Sow Ballerina Blue Sweet Pea Seeds

September to April

Where to Sow

Where you sow your sweet pea seeds will depend on the time of year you're sowing them. September sowings can be made direct into the flowering site at 2cm (3/4") deep. Later sowings are best sown in a 7.5cm pot with 5 seeds in each. October and November and March sowings should be kept in a cold frame. January sowings in a heated glasshouse. April sowings can be sown direct to flowering site.

What to do Next

Glasshouse raised sweet pea seedlings should be hardened off during March. Plant out pot grown seedlings direct into the flowering site 15cm (6") apart in April. Thin direct sown seedlings to 10cm (4") apart. Pick flowers regularly to encourage new growth.

Maturity

Late June to September

Handy Tip

Provide sturdy support for plants. After a good rain, a mature plant will be heavy.
