WHEN TO SOW
February to April
WHERE TO SOW
Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays and cover with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite. Place in a propagator or warm place and keep at a temperature of 20-25°C (68-77°F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination which usually takes 10-21 days.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12") apart or plant into baskets and containers filled with a good quality potting compost.
For best results, pinch out growing points as this encourages a more bushy growth. Impatiens grow well in full sun or part shade.
