Poppy Opium (Papaver somniferum) A-Po

A most beautiful flower in mauve, purple and red forms single or double blooms. Has a deservedly sinister reputation but it is still a most attractive plant for borders, and produces distinctive seed pods after flowering. The ripe seeds can be used in curries and for sprinkling on bread and cakes. The dried seed capsules are most decorative.
