Dyer's Greenweed (Genista tinctoria)

(Genista tinctoria) A smaller bush than the common broom with bright yellow two lipped flowers from June-Aug. Syer's greenweed is commonly found in hay meadows and open woodland areas. Famous as a yellow dye plant. Can also be used for a medinical herb to help with digestion issues.
Habitat: rough pastures and roadsides.
Height of 1 metre.

Soak the seed in warm water for 24 hours before sowing, and place outside to expose to all weathers to break the seeds dormancy.

What to do Next

Prick off seedlings when large enough to handle into pots or trays, grow on. Harden off before planting out , spacing 30cm apart.
