Passion flowers are climbing plants with slightly fragrant white and blue flowers. After flowering, egg-shaped fruits start to form. Although the fruits are edible when fully ripe, they're not known to be particularly tasty.
Although it is normally grown under cover, in mild areas or sheltered spots it is often quite hardy (The hardiest of passion flowers). Germination is erratic and can take anywhere from 1-12 months. Flowers June to September.
