A real Victorian gem. Tall graceful plants needing a lot of room. Stems are tied to blanch them and used like celery.
Sow seeds under glass in March at 18°C. When large enough to handle, plant out 45 x 90cm apart. Mature in December.
Cardoon is a perennial that will come back year after year, typically living for around 5 years. It will die back each winter, and resprout in spring.
