Asparagus Pea
Asparagus Pea Description:
One of our all time favourites. Small winged pods should be harvested when about 3-4cm long, superb flavour akin to Asparagus. Will crop all summer long if picked regularly. Brilliant scarlet flowers. Needs no staking but pods camouflage well in the foliage so search well. Sow in drills 2cm deep in May in the growing site with 35cm between rows. Can be started earlier under cloches. To cook, just top and tail the pods, steam or lightly boil and serve with a knob of butter - delicious!

  Seed Count: 50

WHEN TO SOW
Mid April to Late May
WHERE TO SOW

Early sowings under cloches and from mid-April direct into open site in drills 1.5cm (3/4") deep, spacing seed 5cm (2") apart. Space rows 35cm (15") apart or if using supports 60cm (24") apart.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

Protect seed and young seedlings from bird damage by covering with netting. Put up supports, if required, as soon as seedlings emerge.
