In a nursery bed 5mm (¼") deep in short rows. Thin the seedlings as they grow to 10-15cm (4-6") apart.

Transplant to the flowering site in September or October, 40-60cm   (16-24") apart.

In colder areas cover plants with compost to give some frost protection. A favourite of slugs and snails so protect if necessary.
