WHEN TO SOW February to July. WHERE TO SOW Early sowings in a cold frame or under cloches 1cm deep. Later sowings outside in rows 1cm deep with 10cm between the rows. WHAT TO DO NEXT Salad or spring onions do not need transplanting or thinning. Remove cloches or frame cover by mid April. Pull alternate onions to naturally thin the crop during the season. MATURITY Outdoor sowings are ready about 12 weeks after sowing. HANDY TIP Ideal for successional sowing. As they are in the garden for such a short time, they can be grown in between the slower growing vegetables. |
