WHEN TO SOW
March to June.
WHERE TO SOW
Sow the seeds thinly in shallow drills 2cm deep in the growing site. Keep well watered.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Thin the seedlings as they grow to about 15cm apart. The thinnings can e transplanted and will mature a little later. Finally, thin to 30cm apart using the plants you remove as salad leaves.
MATURITY
The first heads should be ready about 8 weeks after sowing.
HANDY TIP
All lettuces require a regular supply of water but crisphead varieties even more so as the water content is so high.
