Very attractive plants producing masses of small fruits. Does not throw out runners, so remains tidy.

SOW INSIDE in a seed tray of soiless compost, as the seeds are so small. Hardly cover the seeds with finely sieved compost. Keep at 20°C until germination and cover tray with a sheet of glass. Prick out when large enough and grow on in a tray ro in small pots
GROW in a rich soil which retains moisture and ideally in some shade.
SEASON lasts from June/July until October/November
USE the berries like larger strawberries but especially for garnishing. Makes delicious Jam and needs no pectin as a high level of pectin is present in the fruit.
FLAVOUR is strong and delicious and unlike that of cultivated strawberries.
MEDICIANL Strawberry is rich in vitamin C and iron. It has been used for so long and for so many ailments that only a few can be mentioned.
THE FRUIT is a nerve tonic and may be used for cleansing the teeth and removing blemishes from the skin.
THE LEAVES, as a tea, are used for treatment of the liver, feveres, anaemia and as a general tonic.
Alpine Strawberries may be eaten by rheumatic sufferers with no ill effect.
