SOW INSIDE
Seeds germinate at 18-20°C. Place in a tray with compost into a polythene bag or use a propergator until after germination, which should be 10 to 20 days. Light helps germinaton.
WHEN TO TRANSPLANT
When seedlings are large enough to handle thin out to 15cm apart. Pick leaves throughout growing season for use in salads.
HARVEST
From June to September.
The best way to harvest purslane is to pinch off the leafy tips. This is because they grow back almost immediately, so a few plants can furnish a lot of edible purslane.
USES
