WHEN TO SOW
Mid-Spring
WHERE TO SOW
Cover lightly with fine soil in a sunny position. The site should have well drain dry soil. Take stem cuttings in summer,
divide roots in autumn. If in cool air, feverfew can be grown inside.
HARVEST
Young leaves before flowering as the bitter properties increase after flowering, though they can be picked anytime.
USES
Use dried in sachets to deter moths. Dries flowers can be used in pot-pourri.
HANDY TIP
Feverfew grows very easily from seed, and if you dont cut the seed heads off you will have loads of baby feverfew plants,
each small flower produces many many seeds. Feverfew is known to be a very good preventative for migranes
.
A muslin bag containing dried leaves acts as a good moth repellent and freshly applied leaves relieve insect bites.
An infusion of 1 teaspoon of dried leaves in one cup of boiling water, allowed to cool, and taken frequently one
teaspoon at a time, is good for digestion.
The plant consists of slighty downy, ridged, branching green stem and aromatic, mid to yellow-green leaves. Loose
clusters of single white flowers with flat yellow centres make up the flowers. The plant produces small beige, narrow seeds
.
