WHEN TO SOW
May and June.
WHERE TO SOW
Sow in May in pots under glass at 25°C or later in the growing site 60cm between plants, sow 2 seeds per station.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Glasshoue sowings should be gradually hardened off before planting in the growing site in early June 60cm apart. Outdoor sowings should be thinned to the strongest seedling as soon as possible. When watering, always use tap water at room temperature to avoid any bacterial infection.
MATURITY
Early August onwards.
HANDY TIP
One of the traditional ways to ensure germination is to fold a damp sheet of kitchen paper in half, and place the seeds on their edge in the fold. Then place ina plastic bag and put them in the airing cupboard. Check daily and once germinated, place in compost and grow on as normal. Pick the fruits regularly to ensure a continuous crop and water plentifully and often. |
