Cucumber  Passandra F1 Description:
Specially bred to produce an abundance of fruits for picking when about 20cm long. Bitter free and crisp white flesh. 4 SEEDS Sow the seeds edgeways in individual pots, modules or peat pots from late February up to late April under glass at 20C.Maintain the temperature both day and night. Keep the plants moist but not waterlogged and plant in the glasshouse border or in grow bags in late March or April. Train the stem up wires or canes, pinch out the growing point when it reaches the roof. Pinch out the side shoots 2 leaves beyound a female flower (the flower with a miniature cucumber behind it) feed regularly with tomato feed once fruit start to sewell. Spray the floor twice daily to give a humid atmosphere. Crop start in June.

WHERE TO SOW  

Sow the seeds edgewise 1m (1/2”) deep in individual pots under glass at a constant day and night temperature of 21°C.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

As soon as the seedlings have formed 3 true leaves, transplant into 15cm (6”) pots. When the plants are about 10cm (4”) tall, plant out in the growing site maintaining 21°C. Male flowers can appear under stress conditions, which should be removed immediately.

HANDY TIPS

Cucumbers prefer a moist atmosphere, spray the floor of the glasshouse with water regularly to maintain humidity.One of the traditional ways to ensure germination is to fold a damp sheet of kitchen paper in half, and place the seeds on their edge in the fold.  Then place ina plastic bag and put them in the airing cupboard.  Check daily and once germinated, place in compost and grow on as normal.
