WHEN TO SOW
February to April.
WHERE TO SOW
Sow 2 seeds in each pot under glass at 25°C night and day. Later sowings can be made in May in cold frame.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
When 3 true leaves have formed transplant into 15cm pots. When plants are 10cm tall plant greenhouse varieites in grow bags or greenhouse border and train up wires or sticks. Harden off outdoor varieties and plant out in June. When watering, always use tap water at room temperature to avoid any bacterial infection. |
HANDY TIP
One of the traditional ways to ensure germination is to fold a damp sheet of kitchen paper in half, and place the seeds on their edge in the fold. Then place ina plastic bag and put them in the airing cupboard. Check daily and once germinated, place in compost and grow on as normal.
