WHEN TO SOW
Late April to July.
WHERE TO SOW
April and early May sowings in pots or trays under glass at 16-18ƒC. Later sowings in a fine seed bed or in shallow drills where required to grow.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Transplant glasshouse sowings as soon as seedlings are large enough to handle. Thin out other sowings as they grow to end up with plants spaced 20cm apart.
MATURITY
Late summer through early winter.
HANDY TIP
In addition to use in salads, small hearts and leaves can be lightly cooked as a vegetable. |
