WHEN TO SOW
March to early May.
WHERE TO SOW
Early sowings under glass in trays or modules at 16ƒC. Later sowings in a seed bed in shallow drills 1cm deep.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Glasshouse sowings should be pricked off into trays 5cm apart as soon as large enough to handle. Thin modules to one seedling per cell. Thin outdoor sowings to 10cm apart. Harden off before planting out from mid May 45cm apart when the plants are about 15cm tall.
MATURITY
Heads should be ready about 75 days after sowing.
HANDY TIP
The large heads produced are ideal for separating into florets for storing in a deep freeze. |
