Cabbage Durham Early
Cabbage  Durham Early Description:
Dark green heads of medium size, good texture and flavour. A good variety for cutting early as "Spring Greens" before full maturity. Spring Harvesting Sow the seeds thinly in a nursery bed in July or August in rows 15cm apart at a depth of 1cm. Thin the seedlings as they grow to about 8cm apart. In September or October the young plants should have 5 or 6 leaves and be transplanted to the growing site 45cm apart all round. Firmly tread in and water thoroughly.

WHERE TO SOW   
Sow the seed thinly in well-prepared seed beds in shallow drills 1.5cm (1/2") deep. Keep well watered.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Thin the seedlings as they appear to 5cm (2") apart. When the seedlings are about 10-15cm (4-6") tall, transplant to the growing site 35-40cm (14"-16") apart. Set the young plants 1.5cm (3/4") deeper than they were in the seedbed.                                    
MATURITY
April to May
HANDY TIP
Dual-purpose variety. To grow spring greens plant out to 15cm (6") apart and take alternative plants in March as spring greens leaving the others to fully mature fully.
NUTRITIONAL VALUES
Excellent source of vitamins C and B. The darkest leaves contain the most nutrients.
