February to May
WHERE TO SOW
For early crops under glass sow 3 seeds in 15cm pot in mid-February at 16°C. Later sowings for outdoor growing should be sown in the same way. Later direct sow in growing site 5cm deep in rows 40cm apart.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Glasshouse crops should be transplanted when 10cm tall into growing bags or glasshouse border. Harden off plants for outside use and plant in growing site 20cm apart in rows 40cm apart. Direct sown seedlings should be thinned as they grow to the same spacings.
MATURITY
Earliest crops from May onwards
HANDY TIP
If growing crops under polythene or glass for those really early pickings ensure regular watering and ventilation is given.
