If you are unable to sow Aquadulce in November, this is the rescue plan. In most years it matures almost as early as Aquadulce but from an early spring sowing.

WHERE TO SOW
Early sowings in poots under glass or under cloches in the growing site. Later sowings direct into the growing site 5cm deep in double rows 20cm apart.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Glasshouse seedlings should be transplanted to the growing site in March, 10cm apart in double rows 20cm apart. Outdoor sowings should be tinned to 10cm apart, the thinnings can be transplanted to make extra rows. When the first beans form, remove the top 6cm to discourage black fly.
MATURITY
June onwards.
HANDY TIP
Broad beans do not need huge amounts of water until flowering time, then if the weather is dry water regularly. |
