| WHEN TO SOW February to April WHERE TO SOW Early sowings in pots under glass or under cloches in the growing site. Later sowings direct into the growing site 5cm deep in double rows 20cm apart. WHAT TO DO NEXT Glasshouse seedlings should be transplanted to the growing site in March, 10cm apart in double rows 20cm apart. Outdoor sowings should be thinned to 10cm apart, the thinnings can be transplanted to make extra rows. When the first Beans form, remove the top 6cm to descourage black fly. MATURITY June onwards HANDY TIP Successional sowing is the secret to a good supply of Broad Beans, sow your favourite variety at 3-4 weeks intervals. |
