TYPE                                          Half-Hardy Annual

HEIGHT                                   30cm (12”)

WHERE TO SOW

Sow in pots or trays in a good compost under glass at 18-20°C. Cover the seeds lightly with sifted compost. Keep moist.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

When the seedlings are large enough to handle, prick off into trays 5cm (2”) apart. Grow on and gradually harden off for planting in the flowering site in May 25cm (9”) apart.

HANDY TIP

Although traditionally used in bedding displays, Salvias add colour to containers and make ideal spot plants in hanging baskets. Prick out all seedlings as some colours grow faster than others, planting up just the large seedlings will give only a single-colour display.
