WHEN TO SOW
January/February or June/July.
WHERE TO SOW
Early sowings in trays in a gentle heat in a glasshouse. Later sowings in a seed bed in shallow drills.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Glasshouse seedlings should be pricked off into trays 5cm apart, gradually hardened off before planting out from May onwards. Plantings in a seed bed should be thinned to 5cm apart and transplanted in September or October 60cm apart.
MATURITY
July to September.
HANDY TIP
Glasshouse sowings will flower the same year. After flowering, cut back the plants to improve the second years growth.
