Swede Seeds

Swedes are known as Swedish turnips. They are hardy winter root vegetables and are easy to grow. Perfect in hearty winter stews and casseroles, or mashed like a potato.
Sow direct outdoors in May or June into shallow drills 2cm deep, and with 45cm between each row. Gradually thin the seedlings as they grow to their final spacing of 10-15cm apart. Water regularly to avoid woody or split roots. As they are very hardy vegetable so it can be left in the ground and harvested from October onwards.
