Zinnia Seeds

Zinnias are half hardy annual flowers that can easily be grown from seed. These flowers bring an explosion of colour to you garden and then flower arrangements as they are a popular cut flower. Zinnias are one of the most ornamental flowers. Some varieties have double blooms and have unusual shapes.
How to Sow Zinnia Seeds
Seeds can be sown into individual pots or root trainers from March to May and then kept in a propagator at a warm temperature of 20-23°C. When the plants are young, they can be acclimatised for a few weeks and then plant out once the risk of frost has passed. Alternatively, sow Zinnia seeds direct into the flowering site, preferably in a sunny position. Thin the seedlings to 30cm spacings, avoiding the need to transplant, as they do not like being disturbed. Water well until the plants are established. Flowers bloom in late summer from July to September
